Studio Orchestra

About The Ensemble

The BYU Studio Orchestra gives students hands-on experience in real-world recording scenarios. This dynamic ensemble focuses on film scores, video game soundtracks, pop arrangements, and other media-driven music, preparing students for the fast-paced demands of today’s music industry.

Members develop essential studio skills including advanced sight-reading, playing to a click track, adapting to multiple genres and styles, and performing to picture. Sessions emphasize precision, flexibility, and professionalism, with opportunities to collaborate with composers, filmmakers, and producers in BYU’s state-of-the-art recording facilities.

Whether you're aiming for a career in film scoring, session work, or commercial music, the Studio Orchestra builds the technical and musical fluency needed to succeed in modern recording environments. Audition required.
